MVVC DAKOTA INN DINNER & SOCIAL EVENT
Saturday, January 29 6:00 PM until ?
@ The Dakota Inn Rathskeller
17324 John R St., 2 blks north of McNichols in Detroit
Happy New Year to all you Volks folks!..
...The MVVC will kick off 2011 with our annual dinner and social evening at the Dakota Inn in Detroit on Saturday, January 29. This perennially popular event at the historic Dakota Inn Rathskeller provides the MVVC a chance to shake off the mid-winter doldrums and once again gather as a club for food, drink and fellowship. The Dakota Inn offers a festive atmosphere and German menu at reasonable prices, and if engaging with the MVVC membership once they've downed a brew or two isn't entertaining enough, there's the Schnitzelbank sing-along that gives everyone's vocal chords a workout. (Psst...word has it that the most infamous of Schnitzelbank-meisters might once again be leading the room in song!).
Since many of us have enjoyed making the evening of revelry last even longer, we're planning the usual convoy after the dinner down to another Detroit institution, the Traffic Jam and Snug restaurant (TJ'S) in the Wayne State University area of Detroit, for coffee and their fabulous desserts. TJ'S is located on the corner of Canfield and Second, two blocks west of Woodward and about one mile east of the Lodge Fwy.
So save the date and mark your calendars to join the MVVC at the Dakota Inn on Saturday, January 29 starting at 6:00 PM. The Dakota Inn is located at 17324 John R. St., about two blocks north of McNichols (6 Mile Rd.), just east of Woodward in Detroit (ph. 313-867-9722 and check out their website at http://www.dakota-inn.com). The restaurant parking lot is monitored but get there early because it usually fills up quickly. Street parking and an alternate lot across the street are also available.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!! Since the Dakota Inn staff have requested a head count prior to our evening, please RSVP with name and the number of people to attend at events@mvvc.net or call Events Coordinator, Tom Siligato at 248-489-4136 and leave a message with this information. RSVP is required by Saturday, January 22!
It's the social event of the season, an MVVC tradition! See you there!
